Karl-heinz hofmann district administrator klaus loffler thanked the waste management department of the district of kronach for its initiative, according to which the waste management association (ZAW), to which the city of coburg and the districts of coburg, kronach and lichtenfels belong, decided in 2017 to restructure the problem waste collection from 2019 onwards. This mammoth task of a new concept was taken on by the waste management department in the district of kronach. The main driving force behind this was thomas mattes at the district office in kronach. He received special thanks for the successful and complete redesign, which finally received the unanimous approval of the ZAW. Now the main advantage is that there is an overall concept for the entire area covered by the ZAW.

The company wagner entsorgungs-gmbh has been entrusted with the disposal of problematic waste by the ZAW since the beginning of the 1980s. The company will continue to take care of the disposal of problem waste in the counties of coburg, kronach and lichtenfels. In addition, there is the company veolia from rodental, which is responsible for the urban area of coburg.
A major advantage of different collection times is that someone from kups can also drop off his problem garbage in redwitz, or a burger from gestungshausen can drop it off in mitwitz, i.E. Close by.
"This outstanding concept applies to the entire area of application in the ZAW", stressed district administrator loffler.
Free of charge for private individuals
At the start, vehicles came by the minute and brought mainly paint and varnish residues, wood and pesticides. The collection is free of charge for private individuals.
Thomas mattes pointed out that from now on, between february and november, a collection for problem waste will take place once a week in the district of kronach. Collection date is tuesday from 15 to 17 o’clock. More information can be found in the waste calendar, on the internet and via the waste app.
The collections in the districts of lichtenfels and coburg and in the city of coburg can also be used by the population of the district of kronach. A total of 170 collection dates are offered in the ZAW collection area. This is a huge improvement on the previous system of twice-yearly collections in the larger municipalities. Several weeks waiting time was the rule.
"Keeping to deadlines"
Thomas mattes appeals to the population not to dispose of problem waste in the residual waste garbage can, but to use the problem waste collections. The drop-off times must be observed and problem waste must not simply be left at the collection point beforehand. Drop-off is free of charge for private individuals.
There has been no change in the collection of problematic waste for businesses (which is subject to a fee): this continues to take place twice a year (spring and fall).
