No change of trains from kulmbach to nurnberg
The bavarian railroad company (BEG) has awarded the diesel-powered express services between bamberg, lichtenfels, bayreuth and hof to DB regio nordbayern for the next ten years. In the future, these routes will be known as the "main-saale-express" markets. DB regio northeast bavaria will provide 1.6 million train kilometers per year under the contract. Several railroad companies had taken part in the tender process.
"The district of kulmbach is the only region in upper franconia that does not have a systematic direct connection to nurnberg", explains wolfgang oeser, press spokesman for the bavarian railroad company. In addition, passengers who want to travel in the direction of wurzburg will have to change to an electric train in bamberg in the future.
