Kassel hercules were a size too big for the royals
The final tournament of the sollner indoor cup 2017/18 took place at the kronach school center. The baseball players of the kronach gymnastics club hosted a total of twelve teams from five german states. In the men’s tournament, the teams from leipzig, kassel and kronach still had a good chance of winning the overall standings before the finals.
The three favorites successfully fought their way through the preliminary round and also reached the semi-finals. The decision against the kronach baseballers was made here. Because they had to accept a defeat against kassel, leipzig won in the second semifinal against chemnitz. In the final, the teams from leipzig and kassel not only fought for the tournament victory, but also for the first place in the overall ranking of the sollner indoor cup.
Here, the leipzig wallbreakers narrowly prevailed and took the victory. The royals finished in 4th place after losing to chemnitz. Place at home tournament. On place 5 followed the bayreuth braves, before the memmelsdorf barons and the berlin dragons.
Five junior teams at the start
Five teams competed in the junior tournament. After many close games, the teams from kronach royals and SG hof/chemnitz qualified for the final. Here the SG won against the home team and took the tournament victory. Third place went to memmelsdorf barons ahead of hof frankensteiners and dresden dukes.
At the subsequent award ceremony, the CEO of the sollner group not only honored the overall winner 2017/18 from leipzig, but presented all participating teams with trophies and non-cash prizes.
All teams praised the good organization of the tournament and are looking forward to a new edition of the sollner indoor cup in winter 2018/19. For the baseball teams, the end of the indoor cup series means the end of the indoor season. From mid april the outdoor season starts. The kronach royals will start the 2018 season with three teams.
With the men’s, youth and school teams, the kronach baseballers offer their sport to all age groups. New players are always welcome in all teams.
