20 years ago, on 6. April 1997, the filial church st. Michael consecrated in grobenseebach. In connection with the michaelsfest, the archbishop of bamberger prof. Dr. Ludwig schick the newly installed tower clock.
Archbishop schick was buried by the children’s and youth choir, the grobenseebach youth band escorted him and those present to the michaels church. There, church administrator erwin schmitt was able to welcome numerous believers from all over the seebachgrund in grobenseebach.
The initiators of the clock tower were the members of the seebesgrunder trachtengruppe. For many years, the members of the seebesgrund costume group have been tying root bushes for the feast of the assumption of mary and donating the proceeds for a specific purpose to the filial church parish of st. Michael. Further donations came from the erlangen-hochstadt-herzogenaurach city and district savings bank and the grobenseebach company heizung seeeberger.
Long-cherished wish
The desire for a clock for the church tower of st. Michael was present from the beginning. Because what is a church tower without a clock?. The start of planning was at the end of 2016, the award of the work was in the spring of 2017. The new tower clock was made for 6000 euro by the company philipp horz from biberach. At the same time, the bell control system was also renewed. It was also important to the initiators that no hourly chime be heard from the tower.
The two clock faces, each with a diameter of 1.25 meters, are mounted on the north and south sides of the tower. The dial on the south side is kept in the color brown, and thus matches the copper roof of the church. The powder coating promises a long service life. The dial on the north side, covered with gold leaf, shines out into the seebachgrund.
